Maintain LT flooring

Proper maintenance extends the lifespan of Kährs Luxury Tiles, especially in public spaces. Over 85% of dirt comes from outside, so entrance mats are essential. Protect the floor by avoiding dragging furniture and using protective covers, particularly on light-colored floors that require more frequent cleaning.

Cleaning Before Use

If construction work continues after installation, protect the floor with hardboard or panels, ensuring the surface is clean before covering. Initial cleaning should remove dust and debris by vacuuming and using Kahrs cleaner.

Daily Cleaning

Regular maintenance involves frequent sweeping, vacuuming and wiping spills immediately using dry or damp mop with minimal chemicals. For larger spaces, scrubbing machine using neutral, low-foam detergent ensures effective cleaning and helps preserve the floors's finish and durability.

Periodic Maintenance

Deeper cleaning depends on wear and soiling levels. Use Kahrs cleaner with microfiber mop or low-speed scrubber with white or red pad for large spaces. Rinse thoroughly. Avoid standing water.

Stain Removal

Fresh stains should be treated promptly using neutral cleaner first. For stubborn stains use isopropyl alcohol or mineral spirits sparingly, wiping quickly and avoiding scrubbing to prevent surface dulling.

Important Notes

Cleaning methods and frequency should be adjusted based on usage. Using incorrect cleaners can cause residue buildup, making maintenance harder - impacting surface appearance. Solvents, oil, and rubber materials can stain or damage the floor, so spills should be cleaned immediately, and protective measures such as floor protectors and appropriate office chair casters should be used.

Leave gravel and sand at the door

85% of all dirt comes from outside. Preventing it from getting inside by using, for example, a quality doormat, extends the life of your vinyl floor. Vacuum often so that gravel and other potentially damaging materials don’t remain.

Avoid scrapes from furniture

Dragging furniture can scrape even the toughest of vinyl floors. Using furniture pads and similar protectors for chair, sofa, and table legs is an effective way to prevent scrapes and wear.

Clean light-colored vinyl floors often

Naturally, vinyl floors in light colors will show dirt sooner than dark floors. We recommend cleaning them more often to maintain that fresh look.

Cleaning and maintenance

Stain removal

If something is spilled on your vinyl floor, wipe it up right away. If a stain has set, you may need to use cleaning products. Below are examples of different types of stains along with cleaning products that can remove them. Be sure no cleaning product residue remains on the floor after removing the stain. Never use strong solvents like acetone or thinner, and always follow the manufacturer's directions for use and dosage.

Cleaning

For daily cleaning, both dry and slightly damp mops are effective and gentle on the vinyl floor’s protective layer. Be sure to vacuum up large dirt particles first to avoid unnecessary wear during mopping. For tougher dirt, you can add a pH-neutral cleaning solution.

Grease, chocolate, juice, coffee, egg: Neutral or alkaline cleaning solution mixed with warm water

Asphalt, oil, rubber, soot: mineral spirits

Stickers, glue: rubbing alcohol

Blood: Cold water

Feces, urine, vomit: Neutral cleaner mixed with warm water with a mild disinfectant or enzyme-based cleaner
